Herbal Infused Oils

Learn about specific herbs and herbal actions appropriate for infused oils, and make your own herb-infused oils together in this 3-class series.

We’ll cover three basic methods for preparing infused oils, and everybody will have the option of preparing two oils together during our meetings. We’ll also discuss herbal baths and how to use herbs for relaxation rituals.

This is the first run for this series, so schedule changes and other minor adjustments are possible.

Begins May 14, 2026

This course is for anybody who would like to prepare herb-infused oils at home. You will learn:

  • Herbs and herbal actions amenable to topical applications

  • Three methods for preparing infused oils

  • How oils and baths can be used to promote rest and relaxation

This series is being offered as a first-run pilot program. This means that I may ask for feedback, some material may be adjusted as we go, and similar courses may cost a bit more in the future. No refunds will be offered.

❋ Live Virtual Meetings

We’ll meet for three 60-90 minute virtual sessions, every other Thursday beginning on May 14th. Sessions will be recorded in case you miss a class! We’ll meet at 7:00 pm eastern time:

  • May 14, 2026

  • May 28, 2026

  • June 11, 2026

❋ No Experience Necessary

This class is open to people of all experience levels, and no prior knowledge of herbal remedies or infused oils is required. Educational handouts will be provided to help you in selecting the appropriate herbs.

❋ Prepare Your Own Remedies

We’ll cover three basic techniques for preparing herb-infused oils, and everybody will make at least two oils during class. You’ll receive detailed instructions for each technique. Please note that herbs, oils, and other supplies are not included in the cost of this series, and you will be responsible for purchasing these separately.

This course does not include personalized herbal care; please seek support from a qualified healthcare provider for any medical concerns, and notify your care team of any new herbs or supplements you are taking.

❋ Low Cost: $45 for the complete series

In addition to our live sessions, you’ll receive:

  • A handout describing the herbal actions of ten herbs that are commonly used in topical preparations

  • A handout detailing instructions for three techniques to prepare infused oils

  • A list of all supplies that will be needed for our second meeting

  • Access to the Lunar Sol Community site, which includes discounts, clinical office hours, educational handouts, and more

Herbal Actions for Topical Support

We’ll review key herbal actions for topical support and ten herbs that are great for infused oils.

Class One: May 14, 2026, 7 pm eastern
  • Learn about various herbal actions and how to use infused oils

  • Decide what herbs you’d like to use in your oils - with the option of purchasing herbs directly from me at a discounted rate, and I will ship them so that you have them before class two (you’re also free to source them anywhere you’d like, or use what you already have)

  • Review the basics of each method for oil preparation and learn what supplies will be needed for week two

Making Herb-Infused Oils

We’ll begin our infusions together in class, with detailed instructions and live demonstrations for each method.

Class Two: May 28, 2026, 7 pm eastern
  • Make one infused oil using the maceration method: we’ll start this in class, and filter it together during class three

  • Make one infused oil using a water bath method (if you choose to do the alcohol-intermediary method, there is one additional step to do ahead of time, which will be described during class one): we’ll start warming our oils right away, and you’ll filter them after 1-4 hours of heating

Wrapping Up & Herbal Baths

We’ll filter our macerating oils and learn about topical herbal applications for relaxation.

Class Three: June 11, 2026, 7 pm eastern
  • Filter herb-infused oils

  • Share experiences

  • Learn how to prepare herbal baths & create a personal relaxation ritual

Supplies

You’ll have to purchase separately

The amount of herbs and oil (and size of your jars) is entirely up to you; I recommend a pint or quart size mason jar for macerating, and 1-2 ounces of herbs in total. For the maceration method, you’ll need enough oil to fill your jar; for the water bath method, 8 ounces of oil is plenty.

Please email me with any questions.

You’ll receive a more detailed list of supplies two weeks before our first meeting, but here are the basic necessities (and some recommended/optional things):

  • Herbs: you’ll have the option of purchasing from me at a discounted rate, or sourcing your own

  • Oils: you can choose any oil that you’re comfortable using on your skin (or ingesting if you plan to make culinary oils) - olive oil, sunflower oil, and grape seed oil are common; jojoba is excellent for topical use but quite a bit more expensive (and not safe for consumption)

  • Glassware: you’ll need one mason-type jar for maceration, and two glass jars or bottles to store your finished oils

  • Stainless steel bowl and crockpot, or a double boiler for the water bath methods; if this is not possible for you, there are other options - please email me

  • Cheesecloth, muslin fabric, a fine mesh strainer, and/or coffee filters for filtering oils

  • Optional

    • A small amount of high-proof alcohol (75% +) if you want to do the alcohol-intermediary method (this is one of two water bath methods we’ll cover, and you’ll pick one)

    • A blender, coffee grinder, or bullet blender

    • A funnel for pouring oils into bottles

    • A thermometer (highly recommended): a glass thermometer made for home-brewing works great, but anything that can read between 110-150 degrees F will do
